King Charles has been warned that Prince Harry could “re-open old wounds” if he does anything regarding his princely title. On Thursday night, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the 76-year-old monarch had launched a “formal process” to strip the style, titles and honors of his brother Andrew, formerly known as Prince Andrew.
It comes after the outgoing royal, now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, saw his reputation damaged for his association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his denial of sexual assault allegations made by Virginia Giuffre. Although Andrew, who was preparing to move from his home in the Royal Lodge, always denied the accusations against him, this did not prevent the King from taking such measures. While the king’s action was well received by the public, it led some to believe that the monarch might take similar actions to remove the titles of other royals who distracted from the work of the monarchy.
These may include Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, who published an explosive memoir about the Firm in 2023.

“They still have great public love, especially among younger and international audiences.”
Mr Ede continued: “Stripping them of their titles may seem vindictive and could reopen old wounds just as the monarchy is finding its footing again. It would also put their behavior on the same level as Andrews, and the two are completely different.”
This was also a view shared by royal commentator Afua Hagan. express.co.uk: “The two (Andrew and Harry) are completely different.” He continued: “It’s frankly ridiculous to even mention Harry and Andrew in the same sentence when it comes to their titles.”
Asked whether the King was considering stripping his younger son of his titles when he left his life as a royal employee in 2020, the royal commentator said: “Why? For what? What could be the reason?”
The king is thought to have no plans to take such action against his youngest son, whom he has not seen face to face for more than a year but was reunited with last month.
