Prince Harry joked Wednesday night that President Donald Trump is America’s “king.”
In a guest appearance on CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the British Royal Family member scolded Americans for electing a “king.”
Joking about his desire to play the “Gingerbread Prince” in a fictional Hallmark Christmas movie, Harry told Colbert: “You Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies, and you’re obviously obsessed with the royal family, so why not?”
“Wait, I wouldn’t say we’re obsessed with the royal family,” Colbert replied.
“Really? I heard you’ve chosen a king,” Harry replied as the audience booed.

Harry’s sarcasm echoed anti-Trump sentiment from the “No to Kings” protest in October, when scores of liberals and Trump critics demonstrated across the country to express their opposition to the president’s second-term agenda.
Protest organizers claimed they were defending democracy from what they saw as Trump’s authoritarian rule.
Harry mocked Americans for electing “king” Trump “after making such a big deal about my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather, George III,” a reference to the American Revolution.

“Well, he was an asshole,” Colbert retorted.
“Okay, let it go,” Harry joked.
The Prince went on to ask Colbert what else he should do to convince Americans to cast him in a Hallmark movie. He even said he might go so far as to sue the Trump administration.
“I’m going to record a self-tape, fly myself to an audition, settle a false case with the White House; I’m going to do everything you guys on TV do,” he said.
The line amounted to a dig at Colbert’s parent company, CBS; That was CBS, which settled with Trump earlier this year after the president sued the broadcaster for allegedly editing his interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election.

ABC also settled with Trump this year after “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos sued the company for falsely stating on air that Trump would be found “responsible for rape” with a 2023 conviction.
Colbert rebuked Harry’s remarks about suing Trump, saying, “I didn’t do any of that.”
“Maybe that’s why you got canceled,” Harry replied, mocking CBS’ announcement this summer that Colbert’s show would be canceled after the end of the season next spring.
