Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States to help Ukraine in its ongoing fight against Russia in a late-hour CNN interview and confirmed his support for America, briefly touching on the United States’ conflict with Iran.
He said Russian President Vladimir Putin was unlikely to order Russian forces out of Ukrainian territory without pressure from Trump and called on the US leader to help organize a trilateral meeting.
“I am still sure that America must put great pressure on Putin, otherwise he will not negotiate… Now we ask our US partners to set the date for negotiations. [a] tripartite meeting. “We have always supported these formats, we support President Trump and his team,” Zelensky said.
“Of course, this situation in Iran [Putin] “More money and the process of lifting sanctions, this new sanctions policy also benefits him personally and so of course it gives Putin more to continue the war,” he said, referring to the US decision to temporarily lift sanctions on Russian oil to offset the effects of the war on global energy markets.
Zelensky reiterated his support for US actions in the Middle East and said Ukraine would do its best to assist America’s efforts.
“We remember what America has done for Ukraine all these years. But it’s not about money, it’s not about weapons. It’s just about our relationship. We share values… That’s why you can count on us. If we can help more, we will.”
