Myrtle Beach stabbing suspect charged with assault and has lengthy arrest record

A recent stabbing has shaken the popular seaside town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, police said.

Officers responded to 1004 S. Ocean Blvd. around 8:33 Sunday morning. following a reported stabbing, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

2 people were injured in the attack. One of the injured was taken to hospital and treated, while the other was treated at the scene.

In an update Tuesday, police announced that Jeffrey Alonzo Keitt, 68, of Myrtle Beach, has been charged with two counts of assault, battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Keitt was held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Keitt has a lengthy arrest record, with at least four arrests at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center since June 2025, according to booking records reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Previous charges included allegations of trespassing, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest or sentencing, first-degree assault and battery, loitering and unlawful entry onto designated property.

Investigators said an adult male victim told police that a verbal argument between a woman and Keitt escalated when the alleged suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the leg.

While one of the injured was taken to the hospital, medical teams arrived at the scene and checked the second injured person at the scene.
