TikToker Calls Out White Men for Obsessing Over Whether She Has Dated Black Men
The conversation started following a recent viral video posted on social media platform TikTok.
Kylie Brewer is a white woman living in Chicago. In a video posted on TikTok, she explained that white men she had dated in the past asked her if she had ever dated black men.
“I had a date with a white guy in Chicago last year, and he said, ‘So who do you usually date? Guys who look like me? I knew exactly what he was going for, because most white guys are going to ask that question at some point because eventually they’re trying to figure out if he’s quote ‘flawed.'”
Brewer explained that she confronted the white man she was dating about this assumption. “I literally said to him, ‘Does it bother you that you think about black men way more than they think about you? And that ended the conversation. But obviously, we didn’t go on a second date. And I think he was pretty upset about that.”
He added that this is not just a problem for men with conservative views. “The number of white men who are quote-unquote ‘liberals’ are actually threatened and intimidated by you going on dates with people of color is ridiculous.”
Brewer stated that many white men were aggressive towards her because of her history of dating men of color. But there was one particular group that had the strongest reaction. “If you say you’ve been on dates with black men, that’s obviously the most obvious and really disgusting thing they’re going to look at,” Brewer said.
She noted that this is just a small part of a larger process that white men use to evaluate the dating history of white women. “This is just one example of white men trying to understand the ‘purity’ of white women they see,” Brewer said. “And it’s a way of protecting their own women, because they don’t like white women seeing other races or different genders.”
