Man seriously assaulted near Commonwealth Games swimming venue

A man has been taken to hospital after being seriously attacked near the Commonwealth Games swimming venue.
Police said the 53-year-old man was in his car on Glasgow’s Glenisla Street at around 9.30pm on Friday night when two armed men approached him and attacked him.
He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
The attack took place less than a mile from the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, where Commonwealth Games swimming events have been held over the past few days.
It was stated that the suspects were two white men in their 20s.
Police said they fled in a white vehicle.
Detective Constable Martin Howie said: “Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”
“If you were in the area on Friday evening and witnessed a disturbance or noticed anything suspicious, please contact us.
“We would also ask anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage to check if it has captured anything that could be significant.”
