Beijing: China has accelerated missile production in preparation for war. Over the past five years, the country has greatly expanded its missile production capabilities. CNN reported that recent satellite images reveal China’s secret missile expansion. Currently, the country operates 136 sites linked to Rocket Force (PLARF) and defense production. More than 60% of these sites have undergone large-scale expansion in the last five years.

Satellite photos show newly built factory towers, bunkers and testing facilities, according to the report. Some images show missile components stored outdoors.

Between 2020 and 2025, the construction area of ​​these sites increased by 2 million square meters. Villages and agricultural lands were converted into military complexes to house these production facilities.

William Alberque, Senior Fellow of the Pacific Forum and former NATO Director of Arms Control, says: “This is a decisive step in China’s rise as a global power. While many countries are now entering a new arms race, China has already completed the first stages and is preparing for the marathon ahead.”

Xi Jinping Focuses on Military Strength

Since coming to power in 2012, President Xi Jinping has emphasized transforming the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) into a world-class fighting force. PLARF is seen as China’s strategic shield and the foundation of national security. In recent years, special attention has been paid to this branch.

China’s PLARF-based nuclear and ballistic missile programs serve as both a major deterrent against the United States and preparation for a possible situation in Taiwan. Experts say that the missiles produced in these new centers will play a critical role in Beijing’s strategy to maintain control over Taiwan.

China’s ultimate goal is to create an anti-access zone to keep the US Navy at bay.

“China’s plan targets Taiwan’s ports, helipads, and supply points to prevent the United States from building up reinforcements. These moves are direct measures to limit foreign interference,” explains analyst Decker Aveleth of the CNA think tank.
