Bhopal DSP Booked for Stealing Cash, Mobile from Friend

-Bhopal: A woman deputy superintendent of police (DSP) is accused of stealing her friend’s cash and mobile phone worth Rs two lakh.

According to the police, the accused DSP Kalpana Raghuvamsi (55), posted at the Police Headquarters here, was allegedly seen leaving her friend Pratima Tiwari’s house in Jahangirabad area with cash in her hand in the CCTV footage.

Ms. Tiwari, who recently found her money and mobile phone missing from her house, noticed that her friend Raghuvamsi had taken the money and mobile phone when she examined the CCTV footage.

He had withdrawn the money to pay his children’s school fees.

He filed a complaint with the Jahangirabad police station regarding the incident with CCTV footage as evidence.

Jahangirabad police inspector Chaturbhuj Rathore said that a case has been registered against Raghuvamsi under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the incident.

He is currently at large, police said.

Raghuvamsi was earlier punished by the police department for being absent without permission for more than one and a half years.

The incident took place right after six cops, including local sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Pooja Pandey, in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district were arrested in a case related to loot of hawala money by a raiding party of a businessman.

Action was taken against 11 police officers, including SDOP, in the case.

On the intervening night of October eight and nine, Hawala money worth Rs three million was seized from Nagpur-based businessman S Parmar in Seoni.

The raiding police team allegedly made a deal with him to share the hawala money equally among them to let him go without being recorded in the case.

The incident was somehow leaked to the media and the police took action against them.
