Bhupen Borah withdrew resignation after Congress high command’s intervention: AICC Assam in-charge

Guwahati: AICC state incharge Jitendra Singh on Monday claimed that former Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah withdrew his resignation following intervention from the party high command.
Singh and senior Congress leaders, including Assam unit chief Gaurav Gogoi, met at Borah’s residence here after he sent a letter to the party high command earlier in the day announcing his resignation.
Meanwhile, Borah told reporters outside his home that he had sought time from the Congress high command to reconsider his decision.
Gogoi added that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke to Borah and his resignation was not accepted by the high command.
“We apologize to Bhupen Borah if he was hurt due to some issues in the party,” Gogoi said.
