Biden Christmas Eve family photo sparks online criticism and backlash

Former President Joe Biden shared a family photo on social media on Christmas Eve, sparking criticism online when his son Hunter appeared partially visible in the photo while he stood front and center.
The photo shows several members of the Biden family standing in front of a decorated Christmas tree, while Hunter is prominently positioned in the foreground.
In the photo, former First Lady Jill Biden also stands in front of the former president, her head partially covering her face. All other family members become fully framed and clearly visible.
In the X post accompanying the image, Biden said, “I wish you a peaceful, joyful, joyful Christmas Eve.”

The photo’s framing was not mentioned in the post, and Biden’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The photo spread widely on social media after it was published, with users commenting on the location and composition of the family members shown.
One person shared a close-up of Biden’s face and wrote: “It took me a while to find you champ.”

“I think it’s disrespectful to put the eldest member of the family behind a photo taken for the former president’s social media,” another commenter said. he wrote.

Another user asked Biden in the comments: “Why are you friends, blocked by Jill?” he asked.

Other users questioned why Hunter was positioned so prominently in the photo, with some comments specifically focusing on his placement.
One person wrote: “Hunter is alpha now.”
Additional posts shared modified versions of the image showing Hunter shirtless or with a white substance under his nose.
“Wishing you and your entire family (especially your son) a white Christmas,” one user wrote.
Not all of the comments were directed at the photo or the former president.

One person wrote: “Wishing you and your family a peaceful and joyful Christmas. Your strength and love inspire us all.”
Another added: “Wishing you a peaceful Christmas Eve too, Mr. President. Let’s hope the spirit of goodwill continues into the new year and helps bridge some of the divisions we’ve seen. The image is a beautiful reminder of simpler times.”
Many others shared similar sentiments, writing, “Merry Christmas to the entire Biden family!” There was also a message.
