22 trains canceled, 16 trains diverted on Jammu-Katra-Udhampur lines

In a major update for passengers traveling to and from Jammu, Katra and Udhampur, Northern Railway has made an announcement regarding train services being disrupted due to ongoing repair and restoration work due to the devastating floods of August 2025. Train services on Jammu-Katra-Udhampur lines were affected.

Why are train services affected on Jammu-Katra-Udhampur route?

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, said that a total of 22 trains will be canceled by March-April 2026. During the same period, 16 other trains will depart from or arrive at other stations. Northern Railway Headquarters has issued an official circular based on the proposal of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jammu.

“Ongoing repair and restoration work on some critical bridges, as well as extreme engineering constraints, necessitated this outage,” Singhal said.

Train cancellations and route changes were made following intensive repair work due to the floods in August that destroyed many areas. As part of the reconstruction works, Bridge No. 17 between Kathua and Madhopur, an important bridge, is being restored. Engineering restrictions and speed limits have been implemented to ensure safety.

Which trains were cancelled/diverted?

Among the canceled trains are large trains such as Garib Rath Express (Jammu-Kathgodam) and Duronto Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jammu). Vande Bharat Express (New Delhi-SVDK) was also affected. These trains will be canceled until early April 2026, depending on the progress of the restoration.

Among others, 16 trains will continue to operate with some restrictions, including routes to certain stations, until repair work is completed. Trains with diverted routes include services like Durg-MCTM Superfast Express which will terminate in Jalandhar and Sabarmati-Jammu Express which will terminate in Firozpur.
