Bihar, a state where most residents work in blue-collar jobs, has millionaire leaders. Lalu Prasad Yadav had a humble childhood in his ordinary village in Bihar. He spent his college days in the salaried quarters reserved for his elder brother in Patna. However, he and his wife became chief ministers of the state and their sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap also became former ministers. Lalu Yadav’s two sons are quite rich considering the economic condition of the state and the financial condition of an average Bihari.

Is Tejashwi Yadav a ‘krorepati’?

Tejaswi Yadav is a ‘crorepati’ in the truest sense of the word. Tejaswi has assets of around Rs 8.1 billion, according to information provided by him in his nomination paper filed from Raghopur. This includes movable assets worth Rs 6.12 billion and immovable assets worth Rs 1.88 billion. The former deputy chief minister of Bihar has 200 grams of gold in his possession and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash deposited in several bank accounts. He also has debts of Rs 55.55 lakh, including joint loans with his brother Tej Pratap and mother Rabri Devi. Tejashwi also has government dues of Rs 1.35 billion in his name.

Tejashwi Yadav assets

Tejaswi Yadav left aside the wealth owned by his wife Rajshri Yadav, son Iraj Lalu Yadav and daughter Katyayani Yadav. The Raghopur MLA has allocated property worth around Rs 31.70 lakh for his daughter and Rs 8.99 lakh for his son. Additionally, gold worth around Rs 17 lakh and silver worth Rs 85,000 crore were retained for Katyayani, while gold worth around Rs 8.56 lakh and silver worth Rs 42,500 crore were retained for Iraj.

Tejaswi Yadav also revealed that he accumulated his wealth through social work. He served as the state’s deputy prime minister and minister of health. Tejaswi also revealed that he has multiple cases registered against him in police stations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Maharashtra, in addition to cases registered in CBI, ED and Delhi court.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s statement

Lalu Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is also a millionaire. He declared in his affidavit that he has net assets of Rs 2.88 crore. This includes movable properties worth Rs 91.65 lakh and immovable properties worth Rs 1.96 crore. Teju Bhaiya, as his followers call him, also owns gold jewelery worth Rs 22 lakh.
