Bihar Elections 2025: How to find your polling booth

The Election Commission of India has made it easier for voters to find designated polling booths through online and offline methods.
Online method:

  • Voters can visit the official website www.nvsp.in.
  • Click on ‘Get to Know Yourself’.
  • After entering the EPIC number (the voter identification number printed on the card) and clicking ‘Search’, the website will display the name and location of the polling booth along with the name and contact details of the Booth Level Officer (BLO).

Hotline help:

Alternatively, voters can call the hotline number 1950 and add their city’s STD code before calling. An SMS containing the EPIC number can also be sent to 1950 to receive stand details.

  • Verification: A polling officer verifies the voter’s identity and details using an ID document.
  • Marking and recording: Another official marks the voter’s finger with indelible ink, hands over a piece of paper and asks for signature on Form 17A.
  • Application and entry: The voter hands the ballot to the next official, shows his index finger, and is then allowed into the voting hall.
  • Voting: The voter presses the button next to the symbol of the selected candidate on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) inside the booth. A beep and red light confirm that the vote has been recorded.
  • Verify and seal: The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine prints a receipt showing the candidate’s serial number, name, and symbol for seven seconds before dropping into a sealed box.
  • NOTA option: Voters who do not want to vote for any candidate can choose NOTA (None of the Above) which appears as the last option in the EVM.
