How is your election campaign progressing?

It’s going really well. This time Mahagathbandhan will win the election. Wherever I go in the campaign, people say change is certain. They talk about forming a new Bihar and a new government. They say that those who talk about education, irrigation, medicine, employment and urgent action will form the government. I have full confidence that the people of Bihar will elect the government of Bihar Mahagathbandhan.

You and Mukesh Sahani have been officially announced as the faces of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister respectively. Is there any talk of a Muslim Deputy CM?

Do you think you have more responsibilities now after being announced as the face of CM?

The responsibility was mine from the beginning. Last time too, I was brought before the CM and if it wasn’t for cheating, we would have almost formed the government. But this time the whole of Bihar wants change because people are really worried about the current corrupt government. Despite ruling Bihar for the last 20 years, Bihar is the poorest state, migration and unemployment are highest and per capita income is lowest. No industry, no investment. People are in the mood for change.

Do you see Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party as a potential challenge?

The only challenge for me is to eliminate unemployment and I am currently busy with that. Many political parties come and disappear, Tejashwi does not pay attention to such parties. Tejashwi just wants to make Bihar the number one state.

There is competition between allies in several seats. Mahagathbandhan.

It was done strategically. We did this in Jharkhand too and won the seats.

You are talking about bringing change to Bihar. What change do you want?

I want Bihar and the people of Bihar to be superior. No Bihari should have to travel outside the State for work, education or better medical treatment. All facilities should be available in Bihar. The entire infrastructure should be in Bihar. I want to make Bihar an IT hub, set up food processing units and agro-based industries.

You promised a government job to one member of each family. Questions are being asked about feasibility.

Let people ask questions, I’ll keep doing my job. When people get the job, I’ll ask those who ask questions. I will make the impossible possible.

Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was conducted in Bihar. Do you think it had an impact?

I am truly grateful for the Supreme Court’s decisions regarding SIR. The Supreme Court granted our demands and the Election Commission of India has repeatedly condemned Aadhaar as a document or for transparency reasons. We all saw the benefits.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that you and Rahul Gandhi are out on bail.

Yes, if the Prime Minister wants to take action against anyone using ED and CBI, he can do so. In this case, we have to get bail. Join the BJP, it is a washing machine. They have had many prime ministers like this. Look at Maharashtra, they were rewarded and became Raja Harishchandra. Those who were previously corrupt in the eyes of the BJP made a corrupt man the Prime Minister in Assam. Once someone joins the BJP, all sins are erased. MY (Muslim-Yadav) is your core vote bank, but lately you seem to be reaching beyond that.

I see everyone as my vote bank. Tejashwi wants to take everyone with him. I want to create a new Bihar by bringing everyone together.

Your elder brother is contesting against the RJD candidate. What will you tell him?

I will ask him to give it to you [points to The Hindu’s reporter] ticket to win [Mr. Yadav laughs]. Jokes aside, it’s okay. In democracy, everyone has the right to participate in elections. It will not have any impact on Mahagathbandhan because the people of Bihar decided to form our government.

Is there a possibility of a post-election alliance with Nitish Kumar?

No, there is no such thing. We should not believe such rumors. After the election, he won’t even have a party left. Some of them will join the BJP and half will come to the RJD.

Why do you think the BJP will not make Nitish Kumar the chief minister again?

The BJP made a mask for him. Sitting in Bihar, the entire administration is controlled by Amit Shah. Everyone, including the DGP Secretary General, reports to him. This never happened before. You have been seeing Bihar for many years – Samrat Choudhary now holds review meetings with DMs and SPs. Nitish ji He had never allowed such things before.

Nitish Kumar is calling you grocery store (child).

You strongly attack the BJP but not Nitish Kumar. Why is that?

I sympathize with him. It’s at a stage where I don’t like to talk about it much. The BJP leaders ruined him and furthermore, the BJP-minded leaders within his party, including several retired army officers, did the most damage.

Last time, you accepted Nitish Kumar’s suggestion to keep communal forces at bay. If this happens again, will you accept it?

How do you see the Congress’ performance compared to the last Assembly elections?

This time the Congress will perform much better and win more seats compared to the last Assembly elections because priority was given to winning candidates.
