BJP-AIADMK planning electoral win thru SIR, won”t fructify: M K Stalin

In a letter to party workers, the ruling DMK chief told the Election Commission that SIR will be implemented in Tamil Nadu from next month and noted the controversy surrounding its implementation in Bihar, where the EC said “65 lakh people have lost their right to vote”.
The opposition INDIA bloc and its key constituent DMK said it had warned that SIR would be used for electoral gains in Tamil Nadu as well.
“BJP and its ally AIADMK are predicting that they can win (2026 Assembly polls) by removing the names of working class people, SCs, minorities and women through SIR.”
“Those who do not have the strength to confront people on the electoral field and think that they can win by usurping people’s voting rights, this will only result in a miscalculation as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned,” he said.
DMK opposes SIR and supports other democratic measures against electoral rolls and that too by providing sufficient time, he said, adding, “DMK has the capacity to legally confront other anti-democratic measures and will also confront them along with the people.” Dealing a harsh blow to AIADMK chief and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, Stalin said the former, “To achieve” political progress even in the ongoing north-east monsoon.
The former CM was not willing to help people or do anything constructive. Stalin said the allegations against the government regarding paddy procurement turned out to be a “bag full of lies”.
“We will continue to work for people who ignore lies and slander,” the DMK chief said.
