The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, November 22, 2025, criticized Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for calling Sanskrit a “dead language”.
At a press conference, BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia claimed that Mr Stalin was “known for his hatred” towards Hindus. “He (Mr. Stalin) forgets that our culture, our religious texts, have a basis. It is the Sanskrit language that forms the basis of the faith of millions of Hindus. This is a vile joke that Udhayanidhi Stalin has used and has repeatedly done to hurt the sentiments of Hindus.”
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promoted development and integrity with his positive policy and became a symbol of unity, Bhatia said that the DMK leader “has become synonymous with anarchy and division”.
“This is despite the fact that the Supreme Court had earlier condemned DMK leaders for hurting the sentiments of Hindus…” he said, accusing Mr Stalin of repeatedly insulting Hindus.
The BJP leader also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that she was “distressed and concerned” over the ongoing Special Massive Revision of voter rolls. “The people of West Bengal have now clearly understood that the frightened Mamata Banerjee has rejected her and understands that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government. Her entire policy is based on communal and infiltrated votes,” he alleged.
