Alleging irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), West Bengal Assembly Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Monday, December 1, 2025, demanded an audit of the entire 1.25 crore entries made between November 26-28 during the counting process.
Mr. Adhikari told West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal: “We have a special request that all entries amounting to approximately Rs 1.25 crore made between November 26-28 (for the counting process) be examined by special observers and technical team of ECI using all technologies available at the Commission.”

A delegation of BJP MLAs led by Suvendu Adhikari met the CEO and alleged that some of the West Bengal government officials and I-PAC officials (political consultants engaged by the Trinamool Congress) were subjected to serious irregularities during digitization during SIR-2025.
“Between November 26-28, digitization figures jumped from 5.5 crore to 6.75 crore, an abnormal and statistically impossible jump of 1.25 crore entries in just three days. Widespread inputs from the field indicate that this surge was not achieved by BLOs but by IPAC, which is known to be very close to the ruling TMC illegally carrying out digitization duties,” the BJP delegation’s letter to the CEO said.
BJP leaders who signed the letter alleged that there has been a persistent failure to delete dead voters and this has damaged the credibility of the voter rolls. “Despite repeated warnings and documented complaints from our regional units, dead voters are not being systematically deleted. This deliberate inaction results in an inflated, inaccurate and exploitable voter roll,” the letter said.

The other demand raised by the BJP delegation was that irregularly appointed EROs should continue to function in clear violation of the ECI mandate. “Despite our specific objections, EROs below SDO/equivalent level continue to operate across the state as per ECI’s directions. Your office has taken no practical corrective measures, resulting in poor quality of verification, compromise of impartiality and breakdown of SIR protocol,” the BJP MLA’s letter to the CEO said. he said.
For the last few days, the BJP leadership in West Bengal has been targeting the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The total number of voters in West Bengal is 7.66 crore and as of December 1, 99.90% of the registration forms (EF) have been distributed and 96.37% (EF) have been digitized.
In the early hours of Monday, December 1, when the BJP delegation visited the CEO’s office in Kolkata, they were confronted by protesting BLOs (Block Level Officers) who blocked the entrance to the CEO’s office. For the last few days, members of ‘BLO Adhikar Raksha Committee’ were protesting outside the CEO’s office.
The protesting BLOs, mostly supporters of the Trinamool Congress, chanted “Suvendu Adhikari Return” slogans, while BJP supporters joined the party’s MLAs and gathered at the spot. BJP leaders raised questions about Kolkata Police giving permission to protesters to hold protests outside the CEO office.
