BJP’s Maithili Thakur says after Bihar Assembly election win

Popular singer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Maithili Thakur (25) became the youngest MLA in the state by clinching victory from Alinagar Assembly constituency by a margin of 11,730 votes.
Folk singer Maithili Thakur, the newly elected MLA of the BJP from Alinagar constituency, said on Sunday that she is ready to start her work in the constituency and is focusing on fulfilling the promises made to the people. “It feels good. My work starts now. We fought in the elections and now it’s time to get to work. We decide how we will do our job. We must meet people’s expectations and work to fulfill all the promises we have made. I have to work hard in my constituency.” Talking about the challenges ahead, he added: “There are also many challenges. I have become part of the organization and I will learn a lot about politics in the process.”
Popular singer and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Maithili Thakur (25) became the youngest MLA in the state by clinching victory from Alinagar Assembly constituency by a margin of 11,730 votes. Maithili Thakur (25), who made her political debut in this assembly election, polled 84,915 votes and defeated senior RJD leader Binod Mishra (63), who got only 73,185 votes. While Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj candidate came fourth with 2,275 votes, he fell behind independent candidate Saifuddin Ahmed, who got 2,803 votes.
Earlier, when trends showed her leadership, Maithili Thakur spoke to ANI and said it feels “like a dream”, adding that she hopes to live up to people’s expectations. “This is like a dream. People have expectations from me… This will be my first term as MLA and I will do my best for my constituents… I will serve my people like their daughter… Right now I can only see Alinagar and how I can work with them,” he said. On November 14, the ruling NDA won another term in Bihar, securing a three-fourth majority in the 243-member House of Representatives and 202 seats. This is the second time the NDA crossed the 200 mark in the assembly polls. It had won 206 seats in the 2010 polls.
In the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 89 seats, Janata Dal (United) 85, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAMS) five and Rashtriya Lok Morcha four. In Mahagathbandhan, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won 25 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) – CPI(ML) (L) – two, India Inclusive Party (IIP) – one and Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPI(M) won one seat.
