Day 5 of Dhurandhar box office collection
The much-awaited spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun, released in theaters on December 5. While critics gave mixed reactions, audiences embraced the film in a big way, fueling its outstanding box office performance.
The Aditya Dhar directorial netted Rs 106.50 crore in India in its opening weekend. The film added another 24.30 billion rupees to its domestic earnings on its fourth day, taking the four-day collection to 130.80 billion rupees. Now, as per preliminary estimates by entertainment streaming portal Sacnilk, Dhurandhar has crossed the 150 billion rupees mark in India by minting 27 billion rupees on Tuesday. The Ranveer Singh film refuses to slow down and is set to become one of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters in recent years.
With its narrative woven around real-world events such as the hijacking of IC-814, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Dhurandhar focuses on a covert intelligence operation codenamed Dhurandhar, in which an Indian asset was sent to Pakistan to eliminate the gangsters-businessmen-politicians-terrorist nexus in Karachi.
After the film’s climax, it was revealed that this was actually the first part of a two-part saga, and the sequel, tentatively titled Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, was scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, in line with next year’s Eid-al-Fitr celebrations. The Ranveer Singh starrer will clash with Yash’s pan-India gangster drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups at the box office.
Dhurandhar is Aditya Dhar’s second directorial after his debut film Uri: The Surgical Strike was a surprising blockbuster in 2019. The Vicky Kaushal starrer also won four National Film Awards, including Best Actor for Kaushal and Best Director for Dhar. Fan theories now suggest that Dhurandhar may actually be connected to Uri, leading to Aditya Dhar’s Cinematic Universe.
