Maharashtra FDA suspends MLA hostel caterer’s licence after ‘stale food’ claim by Legislator

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, on the evening of Maharashtra Food and Pharmaceutical Administration (FDA), he suspended his Catering license in Akashwani Mla hostel in Mumbai, where a staff was attacked by a Shiv Sena legislator for providing former food service.

FDA, with the order of suspending, the contractor (Agenta Catering) 2006 Food Safety and Standards Law and Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Enterprises) Regulation, the provisions of 2011, said the provisions of 2011.

The regulator said that the violations were found during a examination in the hostel in the early hours of the day.

The FDA’s order led the agency cateringers to stop the food service operations at hostel plants starting on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

The action comes after slapping and punching a employee in Mlas’s hostel canteen to present Shiv Sena Mla Sanjay Gaikwad’s “stale food”.

MLA, led by Deputy Prime Minister Eknath Shinde, said that he repeatedly expressed his concerns about the quality of the food presented in the canteen, but no corrective action was taken.

Gaikwad, “I have complained several times about the food presented in the canteen, but the situation remained unchanged.” He said.
