A man’s body has been found in a reservoir after a woman was found to have been seriously injured at a house in Co Kildare. Police responded to a fire at a house on Oaklawn West in Leixlip, Ireland.
Authorities said a woman in her 50s was treated at the scene by emergency responders and taken to Connolly Blanchardstown Hospital for treatment. The crime scene was then preserved before technical examination. This morning, shortly after 6am, police found the body of a man in his 50s in the Leixlip reservoir. The police took statements from eyewitnesses regarding both incidents. Anyone who was at Oaklawn West, Leixlip, N4 and Leixlip reservoir between 5.30am and 8am and has video footage, including dashcam, has been asked to share it with police.
“Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident to contact them,” the police statement said. The statement was included.
He added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda station on (01) 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
Sources told The Irish Times the investigation is likely to focus on preparing a file for the coroner rather than a criminal prosecution.
