Body Of American College Student Found On Barcelona Beach; Jimmy Gracey Was Nephew Of CNN Senior Producer David Gracey
According to CNN, the body of 20-year-old James “Jimmy” Gracey, nephew of CNN senior producer David Gracey, was found on the beach in Barcelona.
The identification was reported to CNN by a police spokesperson. The news network says police do not suspect foul play and the Gracey family has been notified.

“Everything indicates that this was an accident, not a criminal act,” a police spokesman in Barcelona told CNN. CNN said the body was found at a “shallow depth.” Spanish media reports It shows Gracey’s body was found four meters deep in the waters off Barcelona’s Port Olympic marina.
The area along Somorrostro beach is currently cordoned off with multiple police vehicles at the scene.

Jimmy Gracey, 20, who was studying at the University of Alabama, was last seen by a friend outside the Shoko club near Barcelona’s Port Olímpic around 3 a.m. local time on Tuesday, the Gracey family said in a statement.
The college student had gone out with friends earlier that evening but was separated from the group. “That was the last we heard from him,” fraternity brother Cavin McLay told CNN affiliate WBMA. Gracey, from the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst, Illinois, was visiting friends studying abroad.

ABC7 in Chicago reported that authorities in Spain found Gracey’s wallet floating in the sea near Barcelona’s Somorrostro Beach. Police had already found Gracey’s stolen phone. Catalan police force Mossos d’Esquadra is investigating.
