Body of girl found in hunt for two missing teenagers after car plunged into river

A girl’s body has been found after a car crashed into a Cambridgeshire river last night.
Expert divers recovered the body this afternoon as the search continues for a young boy still missing following the collision.
The vehicle, carrying five people, left the road in Wisbech St Mary, Cambridgeshire, and flew into the River Nene at around 8.20pm on Tuesday night.
Police said the car was heading south on North Brink when it left the roadway.
Police divers are still searching nearby waters as one of the five people in the vehicle, aged between 16 and 18, has not been identified.
According to police, there were three women and two men in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and two women and one man managed to get out of the vehicle.
Those who managed to escape from the vehicle were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with non-life-threatening injuries.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: ‘The North Brink is likely to remain closed for the remainder of the day. We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Police divers are searching the water because the identity of one of the five people in the vehicle, aged between 16 and 18, cannot be determined.
‘Anyone with information about the incident should use reference incident 515 of 17 March and report it via the Cambridgeshire website.’
Local resident Billy Cunningham said: ‘We saw two children get out of the car and when we saw the ambulance coming we saw a girl screaming in the hedges. It was terrible.
‘She was screaming so loud it was piercing.’
Another said: ‘I could hear a tremendous crash. There was also a lot of screaming and panic and then it all started. We saw searches on the river. So sad.
‘It’s a miracle there are any survivors.’
There was a white forensic tent on the river bank, and there were emergency vehicles parked along the road nearby.
Referring to incident 515 on March 17, police are asking for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
Citizens living near the scene of the accident flocked to the scene and helped emergency teams search the riverbank with torches.
On a local Facebook forum someone said: ‘I have tried to help for three hours with torches but nothing has happened yet, I found my heart goes out to the family.
Another shared: ‘Hope everyone involved is okay.’
Others described the North Brink, the long, narrow and straight road along the River Nene, as ‘really dangerous’.
A half-mile section of the road near Wisbech St Mary was cordoned off on Wednesday afternoon as the search continued.
A fire truck was seen leaving the area during lunch.
The River Nene at North Brink is a tidal stretch of water that connects to The Wash.
Its depth varies with tide, but can be anywhere from 9 feet to 15 feet deep.
