Body of missing Brookfield toddler believed found 11 years after disappearance
Police believe the body of a young boy who went missing more than a decade ago has been found buried in the garden of a house in Melbourne’s north-west.
At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Melton crime investigation detectives discovered remains thought to be those of a child who went missing from Brookfield property in 2014. The child was not reported missing at the time, police said.
Police found the remains while searching for the body of a young child.
The investigation into the disappearance began earlier this year. Detectives, along with the missing persons squad, the AFP and the major crime scene unit, began searching the scene on Monday.
“The coroner has been notified and an autopsy will be performed in due course,” police said. “The missing persons team will take priority over the ongoing investigation.
