Azerbaijan signs USD 2 billion investment agreement with Pakistan

The agreement was signed on Friday after a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev, hosted by Azerbaijan (ECO) summit.
The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan Khantandi. Aliyev and Şerif witnessed the signing ceremony.
According to the Pakistan Radio, a detailed agreement will be signed to bring the investment and trade relations between the two countries to a historical level during the visit of the Azeri president to Pakistan.
Aliyev’s visit dates are not yet known, but the sources will take place this year.
The ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan developed and the country supported Pakistan in the last conflict with India. According to sources, they already have solid defense cooperation and now want to strengthen further with economic cooperation.
