Bomb squad called after ‘mystery liquid’ found in English coastal town prompts evacuation of 160 homes

After a mysterious fluid is found in a house, a bomb destruction team, which caused the evacuation of 160 houses, joins an address in Eastbourne.

The police were called to an address at Hyde Road at 17:00 on Monday evening after receiving reports of an unidentified fluid.

55 -year -old Tracy Weslake, who lives next to the house, said that a package that leaked with brown tape was removed from the house.

“The police touched my door this morning and asked me to leave. You can still smell everything leaking from the package.”

“Now you can smell the chemicals in the air.”

The explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team joined to evaluate the item, and the residents in nearby properties have been restricted to the region.

Later, on Tuesday, June 24, it was decided that a planned evacuation would take place, and six different street residents were asked to leave their homes at 9 am.

Local Assembly Member Robert Smart told BBC Radio Sussex that the substance was “potentially dangerous ve and said, iz We will surely learn more about the nature of the liquid.

Eastbourne District Council opened a rest center accommodation for the affected residents.

Sussex police officers stay at the scene when the roads are closed, and there is no immediate risk for the public.

Jon Robeson, the detective responsible, said: ız Our priority is to keep people safe. We are pleased that there is no urgent risk for inhabitants and that the evacuation of nearby houses can be completed safely and effectively during daytime hours to minimize the effect of local inhabitants.

“We will have a series of uniform officers to help the planned evacuation on Tuesday morning and to give more advice.

“We will encourage Hyde Road, Camden Road, Calverley Road, West Terrace, Bath Road and Grove Road to leave up to 9 o’clock.

Uz We appreciate the support of the residents and the wider community that will be affected by the necessary precautionary actions and hopefully they will be able to return to their homes quickly.
