On Friday, July 11, 2025, the Supreme Court of Bombay rejected a spur petition filed by Dnnandev Wankhede, father of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), father of the former Narcotics Control Office (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede. The petition claimed that Mr. Malik had violated a commitment to the court in December 2021, where the Wankhede guaranteed that he had avoided humiliating or objectionable expressions against his family.
In spite of this guarantee, Mr. Wankhede claimed that Mr. Malik made negative public statements on 28 December 2021 and in his media interviews on 2 and 3 January 2022, he was a tweet of Sameer Wankhede as “Sameer Dawood Wankhede”. He claimed that Mr. Malik’s words were part of the continuous evil campaign triggered after the controversial arrest of Aryan Khan, the son of actor Shah Rukh Khan.
The Supreme Court previously issued a demonstration case report to Mr. Malik in February 2022. However, Mr. Malik’s lawyer argued that statements were made to violate the court’s decision and did not mean humiliation.
On Friday, justice of justice GS Kulkarni and Arif S. Doktor’s counter bench, Mr. Malik’s statements decided that the 2021 commitment was not a violation. The counter has observed that it would not be appropriate to use disrespectful judicial authority since explanations were made during the sagging of other civil trials. The petition was allowed to discover other legal solutions.
