Bombing at nightclub in Peru injures 33 people, including minors | Peru

A bomb attack on a nightclub in Peru injured 33 people, including children, authorities said Saturday.
The explosion occurred before dawn at the Dalí nightclub in Trujillo province on Peru’s northern coast, according to a statement from the local emergency operations center.
An area that has been plagued with violence and crime lately.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible and the cause of the incident was not immediately known.
According to Gerardo Florián Gómez, general director of the Trujillo Health Network, at least five of the injured are in serious condition. Some of the victims suffered amputations and shrapnel injuries and were undergoing surgery, he told reporters. Florián Gómez said that three children, aged 16 and 17, were among the injured.
Fiorella Mantilla, who was in the nightclub when the explosion occurred, told reporters she had glass embedded in her legs and recalled that it “sounded as if the sound system had suddenly been turned off.”

The explosion occurred less than a month after another explosion in the same city damaged 25 homes but caused no injuries or deaths.
Extortion and illegal mining plague the La Libertad region, whose Andean region is home to Peru’s largest gold-producing region. According to official figures, there were 286 explosions in the region in 2025, 136 of which were in the city of Trujillo.
The expansion of organized crime groups has also led to an increase in related crimes such as extortion.
