MAGA diehard X accounts are run from far-flung foreign countries as new location feature exposes sinister deception plot

Countless diehard MAGA accounts promoting the ‘America First’ ideology on X have been revealed to come from places as far away as Thailand, Nigeria and Eastern Europe.

The latest update to Elon Musk’s social media platform has sparked confusion and chaos around the world, with the motivations of reliable sources of political information being questioned.

As part of the change, an account’s country of origin will be clearly visible on the user’s profile page.

The resulting information revealed the dark side of the MAGA movement, as high-profile social media accounts supporting Trump were revealed to be foreign actors.

Outspoken Democratic commentator Harry Sisson wrote of X: ‘This is certainly one of the best days on this platform.’

‘Seeing all these MAGA accounts exposed as foreign actors trying to destroy the United States is a complete vindication of Democrats like me and many others here who have been warning about this.’

An account titled ‘America First’ with more than 67,000 followers, which constantly posts content about Trump, Erika Kirk, Karoline Leavitt and the wider MAGA movement, has been revealed to be based in Bangladesh.

Since the update, most posts from the account now have an

Another high-profile account, ‘@1776General_’, describes itself as ‘constitutionalist, patriotic and ethnically American’, but the account has now been traced to Türkiye.

‘I work in international trade. The owner of the account claimed that I am currently working under a contract in Türkiye.

MAGANationX, which has nearly 400,000 followers and describes itself as ‘We the People’, is traced back to Eastern Europe, according to metadata.

Similarly, IvankaNews, a fan account belonging to Trump’s eldest daughter, appears to be run from Nigeria, while the Dark MAGA account broadcasts from Thailand.

The MAGA Beacon account has since been deactivated but was posting from South Asia.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh criticized the now-exposed accounts, writing: ‘If you’re not from this country: We don’t care what you think about American politics. We don’t care what you think about American culture. We don’t care what you think about American elections.

‘Your scam is over. ‘Focus on your own problems.’

The accounts are now flooded with angry responses from MAGA loyalists who were bamboozled by their content.

‘You’re caught,’ one critic wrote, while another added: ‘You’re not even going here.’

This practice has hit the MAGA movement particularly hard, with high-profile accounts frequently posting about election results and Trump's anti-immigration agenda with ties to far-flung foreign countries.

Meanwhile, accounts from Gaza that appeared to be sources of first-hand information were also uncovered, and Scottish Nationalist accounts inciting the disintegration of the United Kingdom were traced to Iran.

Motasm A Dalloul, who describes himself as a ‘Gaza-based journalist’ and has a PayPal account linked to support his work, opened his account in 2011 and is based in Poland, according to update X.

He disputed the information in his profile’s metadata by sharing a video he claimed came from Gaza, but some critics questioned whether the video had been digitally altered.

X states that the Times of Gaza account, which has almost a million followers, traces back to ‘East Asia and the Pacific’.

It was learned that users pretending to be advocates of Scottish independence, including ‘biomedical engineering student’ Jessica and an account called ‘Ewan_Mcgregor0’, were actually traced to Iran.

While the metadata indicates that both accounts are based in the Netherlands, it is stated that these accounts were accessed through an Iran-based Android application. This suggests that an Iranian VPN redirected the account.

Graeme Downie MP said: UK Defense Magazine The new data ‘confirms what we already know that countries such as Iran, as well as Russia and our other enemies, are actively trying to subvert our democracy and discourse in Scotland and the UK.

‘We are already in a gray war with our enemies and this is another proof of that.

‘While gaining Scottish independence is a valid political goal, this report shows the extent to which the debate is influenced by unfriendly countries.’

X admitted that there were some glitches in the new version, and after first introducing the feature on Friday, it was briefly taken offline due to backlash.

Product manager Nikita Bier warned: ‘There are a few kinks that will be resolved by Tuesday. If any data is inaccurate, it will be updated periodically based on the best available information. This happens on a delayed and random schedule to protect privacy.’

When the feature was re-enabled, a cautionary note about location data read: ‘The country or region where the account is located may be affected by recent travel or temporary relocation.

‘This data may not be accurate and may change periodically.’

Before the new feature, X users could see a person’s ‘location’ on their profile, but this was based on what users were logged into their own account.

By the way, the new feature is directly based on IP address, so it cannot be changed manually.

‘This is an important first step to secure the integrity of the global city square,’ Bier said.

‘We plan to give users many more ways to verify the authenticity of the content they see on X.’
