‘When the agents identified themselves to the occupants of the vehicle, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement officers,’ the DHS statement says.
‘An agent, fearing for his life and safety, fired in defense. The driver fled the scene with the passenger.’
Law enforcement resources he told KGW The stop was part of a special operations detachment as part of the Border Patrol’s ‘Operation Oregon’.
Sources described how agents stopped a red Toyota, the driver tried to flee and in the process crashed into an unidentified agent’s vehicle.
The agent then fired at the Toyota, striking a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.

The shooting occurred while the Portland city council was in the middle of proceedings, and the meeting ended abruptly before council members learned what had happened.
Mayor Keith Wilson later released a statement, describing the attack as a “deeply disturbing incident.”
‘We cannot sit by while constitutional protections are eroded and blood is shed,’ he said. ‘Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents, and the administration’s ‘full force’ threat has deadly consequences.’
Wilson later said he called on ICE to ‘cease all operations in Portland until a full investigation is completed.’
But the mayor urged Portland residents to react in a “calm and purposeful” manner and warned that “Portland does not respond to violence with violence.”
At a news conference Thursday night, Wilson also called for a “full investigation” of federal officials leading ICE and Border Patrol.
‘We know what the federal government says happened here,’ he said. ‘There was a time when we could trust their words. That period has long passed.’
All three councilors representing the area said they were awaiting further information but said the incident was ‘part of a pattern or violence that we have seen many times across our country’.
‘As your East Portland council members, we stand united to protect Portlanders from aggressive immigration enforcement and federal overreach, and we will continue to do everything in our power to keep our communities safe,’ they said. According to OBP.
‘We ask our counterparts at all levels of government to do the same.’
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter called on ICE to end its operations in Portland.
“ICE has done nothing but inject terror, chaos, and cruelty into our communities,” he said in a statement.
‘Trump’s immigration machine uses violence to control our communities, drawing directly from authoritarian tactics.’
The shooting in Portland came just one day after an ICE officer shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three in Minneapolis.

Congresswoman Janelle Bynum agrees.
“This is not law enforcement, this is state-sponsored terrorism,” he said in his own statement. ‘Stop making fun of us.
“This is the second shooting this week by agents at the behest of a wannabe dictator seeking to capture and rule cities by striking terror into the hearts of the American people,” Bynum said.
‘When the President sent his guards to our city earlier this year, we told him their presence was unwelcome and unhelpful. Today we saw how dangerous this is; We need these punks gone.’
The shooting comes amid rising tensions across the country following the ICE-involved shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.
The agent responsible, identified as Jonathan ‘Jon’ Ross, was branded a ‘murderer’ by angry Democrats but had the full support of the Trump administration; The Trump administration claimed Good was acting in self-defense when he appeared intent on running him over with his car.
Good’s friends described her as part of a network of activists actively resisting ICE, coordinated through her six-year-old son’s charter school.
‘He was a warrior. “He died doing the right thing,” said a mother named Leesa, who had a child at the same school as Good’s son. New York Post.
‘[Renee Good] trained against these ICE agents; ‘It’s a very comprehensive training on what to do and what not to do.’

As part of this training, Good allegedly learned to listen to commands and understand his rights.
‘I know you did the right thing. I watched the video many times but I also know in my heart what a woman she was, she was doing everything right,” Leesa said.
In the video, agents can be seen approaching Good’s stationary vehicle, asking him to get out, and when he begins to back up, one of them can be seen pulling the door handle.
Ross stops in front of the car and starts moving forward, drawing his gun and pointing it at Good. He hits her with the car while opening fire. Good’s Honda Pilot crashed nearby and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ross is an ‘experienced’ police officer who suffered horrific injuries while trying to arrest an illegal immigrant sex offender last year.
“He’s the same ICE agent who was dragged in the car 15 feet ago in June, so he has a history,” an FBI agent told the Daily Mail on condition of anonymity.
The FBI agent stated that he did not believe Ross was justified in shooting Good.
‘The first shot is somewhat debatable, but the second and third shots are not.’
This is breaking news and will be updated.
