BORIS JOHNSON: My audience with the young men willing to die to stop China seizing vital technology that would put its hands around the windpipe of the West

I live with crackers entering with a tropical storm at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei and decided to put an important question when lunch was over.
Like everyone else I met in Taiwan, this political, diplomatic and business brains group tells me the increasing threat of China invasion.
They described the bullying, internet troll, lies, propaganda, and the hysterical shows of Chinese armed power in the waters of Taiwan: Jets fire, live fire operations, a mustache of Taiwan boats, even simulated blocks and landing.
They told me how Taiwan reacted – they accelerated their training by increasing their defense expenditures. However, we all know that only a 23 million people withdraw against the people of the people’s liberation army.
Basic Calculation – what military planners really want to know in both Beijing and Washington is how Taiwan will react.
‘Will you fight?’ I’m asking the collected company.
“ I will fight, ” says the young man on my left instantly and a few more men are stealing their consent.
Then there is a pause – because we all know what it means. The massacre on both sides means terrible and meaningless. For Beijing, it would not be easy to buy Taiwan, which is at least 80 miles from the motherland and with rocky cliffs in most of the beaches.
Boris Johnson met Taiwan President Ching-Te Lai in Taipei-heard the increasing threat of Chinese invasion here
If Taiwan had been overwhelmed, it would be a strategic disaster for the West – because Taiwan now made 95 percent of the advanced chips necessary for artificial intelligence, Boris Johnson says
However, most analyzes predict that Taiwan people will sooner or later get overwhelmed without help. This, of course, means an absolute strategic disaster for the West – because Taiwan now makes 95 percent of the advanced chips necessary for artificial intelligence.
This means that if Xi Jinping receives Taiwan, the most important and valuable new technology of the 21st century will take their thumbs in the wind. And if Beijing takes Taiwan – look at the map – a great basis in the ‘first island chain’ between Japan and the Philippines, and will be largely increased to reflect Chinese power to the Pacific.
More importantly, an invasion means the violent overthrow of a democratic government – which is completely challenging the desires of the Taiwan, regardless of the true claim of Taiwan.
For most of the registered history – until the arrival of European colonists in the 17th century – Taiwan residents 16 could not be mutually opened Austrian tribes. He was only Dutch and Spanish invaders who began to import Chinese speakers from the mainland.
In 1683, the representatives of the Qing Dynasty came and there were many more inns, and they had changed the demographic balance to a great extent, but the island still had large parts that they still did not control.
This partial colonization of Qing China continued until 1895, when the island fell to the Japanese who will ruled Taiwan for the next 50 years.
It is one of the most curious features of Modern Taiwan, many people are not completely enemies in memory of this period. Regardless of the horror of the Japanese Korean or motherland to China, the legacy here seems more complicated.
The Japanese gave the Taiwan roads and ports and even the building of the Foreign Ministry where we lived, the large handsome stone and white plaster structure of the 1930s.
Old people can speak Japanese. Today’s Taiwan people still use the distribution of Japanese credit words such as taxi drivers (‘Unchan’) or lunch box (‘bento’). I ask them where they go on vacation and they all say they will go to Japan without exception.
Chiang Kai-Shek fled to Taiwan in 1949-he was deprived of the dream of governing China by the communists-managed with an iron fist
Xi threatened to take over Taiwan until 2027 at a stage, and since we need to take it seriously, the question is how to stop it
As my landlords hurried to explain, there is a simple reason for the love that the empire seemed to remember Japan – and because of this, it looked good -natured compared to the next thing.
This was the regime of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek of Kuomintang, who helped defeat the Japanese in 1945 and lost them from Taiwan, but later lost the Chinese Civil War to Mao and the Communists.
Chiang Kai-Shek fled to Taiwan in 1949 and was deprived of the dream of running China by the communists-he directed the onhand iron fist. Now it is remembered for establishing the longest martial law in the world and the world’s longer so far.
When he died only in 1975, Taiwan became today: a vizier with a brutal controversial elections and a free press. It is partly free of charge because Taiwan is economically successful and technologically dynamic, especially in the field of semiconductors.
Creativity often goes hand in hand with freedom of thought and freedom of speech, and bright people like to live in free societies. This is one of the reasons why Taiwan is so determined in order not to be a state of communist China. Like the rest, they can see Hong Kong’s tragedy.
They can see what China will happen when they take over – the best betrayal of China’s promises to England was first at 1984 to Mrs. Thatcher and then in 1997.
The Chinese made the ‘a country, two system’ model sarcastically; They cleaned the elections, imprisoned journalists, eliminated the opponents and tear gas protesters.
When we look at Hong Kong, it is not surprising that Taiwan is increasingly more passionate to defend the actual political independence.
Many said they had a common identity: Taiwan is the first and China is the second. 77 percent of this year’s survey says they are only Taiwan.
So Xi Jinping thinks that the issue is very urgent; So he wants to suppress Taiwan-a clear reason for being a communist and does not want an independent Chinese-speaking democracy developing at his gate.
Xi threatened to take over Taiwan until 2027, and the question is how to stop it because we had to take it seriously. It is difficult to see how any US president can permit such a geo-strategic disaster.
It is difficult to see that countries like the United Kingdom and Australia do nothing.
Let us hope that Xi has taken the right lesson from Putin’s disaster in Ukraine – they are fighting with almost impossible passion to defeat when people fight for their independence, when people fight for their independence.
These people want to be free. They do not want to be ruled by Beijing. They learned Hong Kong’s lesson – the guarantees of the Communist Beijing will not be trusted.
We have to pray that he never came to war, and I still don’t think in balance.
But if so, I think I doubt that the Taiwan will fight and will be on their own.
