NatWest and Halifax to close 39 branches in September – full list | UK | News

Natwest and Khalifax will close the doors in 39 in another coup to the high streets of England next month. This year, hundreds of bank branches have already been closed and there are more on the pipeline in the coming months.

A total of 26 Natwest branches and 13 Halifax branches will be closed for good in September. As the banks have to deal with the customer’s transformation into online and mobile banking, the closing will go back to October. Banks and building societies have closed a total of 6,443 branches since the beginning of 2015 and equal to an average closing of 53 compared to the consumer champion. Which? Natwest is just one of the major banks that will close most of its sites throughout England.

According to Metro, a Natwest spokesman said more than 80% of the current account holders use digital services and more than 97% of retail accounts are opened online.

A total of 54 branches will close their shutters this year and Natwest group, including the Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank since 2015, has closed 1,409 branches.

In the last five years, Khalifax had decreased by 48% in face -to -face transactions in its branches.
