Boundaries of administrative units to be frozen on Dec 31, 2025 for Census

The center asked states and union regions to make proposed changes on the borders of administrative units before 31 December, when they would be considered as ultimate to practice census.

In a letter to all states and trade union regions, Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, the Editor -in -Chief of India, said that all villages and towns for the census were divided into uniform numbering blocks for the census and that any lady or a number of numerists were assigned to avoid the number of population for each block.

According to norms, the census can be performed only three months after the freezing of the boundaries of administrative units such as regions, sub -regions, threats, talukas and police stations.
Narayan, from April 1, 2026 onwards, the host operation, the appointment of supervisors and counters will be made between them and the working section will be made and the population of the population will begin on 1 February 2027, he said.

In the letter, it is important not to change the limits of the administrative units after the numbering blocks are finalized.


Narayan asked all departments to guide all departments to make proposed changes in the boundaries of municipal companies, income villages, threats, sub -sections or regions before 31 December. He asked states and UTs to have no change in the borders of administrative units in March 1, 2026 and 2027 March. Any amendment in the current boundaries should be brought closer to the census directorates in the state and union regions of the state and union regions until 31 December 2025.

In order to provide a fair workload for the countdown officials, a management unit is divided into managed sections called “blocks” for census.

Subsequent census will be made digitally using mobile applications. It will also be ensured that the public will be provided to the self -concealment.

The statement said that very strict data safety measures will be kept on the spot to ensure data safety during collection, transmission and storage.
