Boy, six, dies after ‘medical episode’ at home as police arrest woman and teenage girl on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child

A six-year-old boy died after suffering a ‘medical crisis’ at his home; A woman and a teenage girl were arrested in connection with his death.

Paramedics called police to a house in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, at around 9am on Monday.

Emergency crews took him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child and remains in custody.

The 17-year-old girl, who was arrested on the same charge, was released on bail.

Police rushed to Searby Road in Scunthorpe after being alerted by paramedics

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson said: ‘An investigation has been launched as we investigate to establish the full circumstances surrounding the child’s death, which is currently treated as an unexplained incident.’

Police said the crime scene guard remained on duty as investigations continued.
