Trump’s Labor Secretary RESIGNS amid ethics probe into husband’s text messages to young female staffers
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned amid an ethics investigation into her husband’s allegations against female employees, accusations that he ordered employees to bring alcohol on business trips and allegations that he had an affair with a bodyguard.
His resignation was confirmed on Monday by White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who said he had ‘done an outstanding job’.
Chavez-DeRemer is the third cabinet casualty of Donald Trump’s second term, following Kristi Noem’s ouster from the Department of Homeland Security in early March and Pam Bondi’s firing as Attorney General earlier this month.
The 58-year-old was the subject of a months-long ethics investigation after allegations of misconduct emerged late last year. Her husband is Dr. Shawn DeRemer is also under scrutiny by the Inspector General for messages sent to young female employees.
The departure was the latest development following accusations of drunken business trips to strip clubs and casinos and a ‘stash’ of booze in his Washington DC office.
Chavez-DeRemer and her former deputy chief of staff sent messages asking staffers to bring them alcohol during business trips.
He even allegedly drank on the job, with the Department of Labor Inspector General complaining that he kept bourbon, Kahlua and champagne in his office.
Chavez-DeRemer took his subordinates to a strip club in Oregon last year, the New York Post reported.

The alleged trip to the Angels PDX club on April 18, 2025, officially came at the end of a five-day visit that included a meeting with the truck maker’s CEO, Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek, and a tour of an Intel chip facility.
Documents seen by the Post showed $2,890.06 of taxpayer money was spent on the trip to Oregon.
It was claimed that the former Minister of Labor had sex with one of the security guards.
Brian Sloan resigned last month after being accused of having a romantic relationship with the married secretary, according to two department officials cited by Politico.
He had previously been placed on leave pending an investigation by the Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General.
Her husband, anesthesiologist Dr. DeRemer was banned from department headquarters earlier this year after several women told the Inspector General that he had made unwanted advances toward them.
One of the women filed a report with D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department.

Shawn Deremer sent a message to young female employees of the Ministry of Labor
A woman told police on December 18 that she was sexually assaulted at the department’s headquarters, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail.
The ministry and the federal prosecutor’s office later said they would not file charges regarding the allegation.
The original complaint to the Inspector General, first reported by the New York Post in January, accused Chavez-DeRemer of asking an employee to bring roses to her hotel room.
‘Do they sell it in bottles?’ he asked. The staff said they did but the rose was gone.
He replied: ‘How about Josh sauvi B?’
The messages were undated but included a picture of the menu at a hotel bar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where the secretary went on an official visit last July.
In a Sept. 5 message, Chavez-DeRemer’s then-deputy chief of staff, Rebecca Wright, told a staffer to buy “a bottle or two” of wine or champagne.
“Lori would like to make a toast when this meeting is over,” Wright told the staff.
Chavez-DeRemer’s personal attorney, Nick Oberheiden, said in a statement: ‘While we continue to vigorously dispute the allegations made, Secretary Chavez-DeRemer believes it is in the nation’s best interest to allow the administration to remain fully focused on delivering results for the American people.
‘He is grateful for the opportunity to serve and is committed to supporting the President’s forward-looking agenda.’
