Officers cordoned off a police station this afternoon while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called to the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police said the police station on Broadbury Road in Knowle West, Bristol, was partially evacuated this afternoon as a precaution after a member of the public handed over what appeared to be a hand grenade.
Police confirmed no houses were evacuated but a cordon was established outside the station and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to secure the explosive.
A police spokesman said: “Broadbury Road Police Station was partially evacuated as a precaution after members of the public handed in what appeared to be a hand grenade. “The grenade was handed in at around 3.40pm on Friday, February 13.
“Broadbury Road was closed to allow a cordon to be established outside the police station, but no houses were evacuated.
