LeSean McCoy threatened to leave Eagles Hall of Fame over Kevin Patullo

A Philadelphia Eagles legend is tired of seeing his former team struggle offensively and is pointing the finger at who he believes is to blame.

No, it wasn’t quarterback Jalen Hurts, who committed a career-high five turnovers in a 22-19 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, handing the Eagles their third straight loss.

Instead, LeSean McCoy believes the blame lies at the feet of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo for the team’s poor offensive performance this season despite its 8-5 record.

“If he comes back, I’m leaving the Eagles,” McCoy said bluntly on the “Speakeasy” podcast with Emmanuel Acho and Kieran Hickey-Semple.

It’s worth noting that McCoy is a member of the Eagles’ Hall of Fame and his No. 25 was retired by the franchise.

But McCoy doesn’t care if that means Patullo will return next season.

EAGLES STAR TURN THE BALL TWICE IN ONE CHAOTIC GAME AGAINST THE CHARGERS

When reminded of his retired number, McCoy said, “Let me out.” “Nobody ever asked. So I’ll say ‘Mr.’ [Eagles owner Jeffrey] Lurie, either me or Kevin.’ …If Kevin doesn’t get fired, put 25 back on the street. Let one of the rookies take it.”

It’s a bold approach from “Shady” McCoy, but he’s on the side of many Eagles fans who have been hounding Patullo all season and failing to produce offensively like they believe the Super Bowl champions will do in 2025.

The Eagles rank 24th in the NFL in yards per game (309.4) over the final four games of the regular season after finishing eighth in that category in 2024. Despite Saquon Barkley rushing for over 2,000 last season as the Eagles star, Philadelphia ranks 22nd in total rushing yards per game (110.5).

Finally, the Eagles rank 19th in points per game (22.2) and have been able to get the job done most nights thanks to their stellar defensive play. The Eagles’ defense gave Hurts and his team numerous opportunities on “Monday Night Football” at SoFi Stadium, but turnovers ultimately plagued them, including Tony Jefferson’s game-clinching interception at the Chargers’ goal line, marking Hurts’ fourth pick of the night.

The struggles even led to some radical Eagles fans throwing eggs at Patullo’s New Jersey home, seen in a viral video.

In the episode of the podcast, McCoy defended Hurts despite having one of the worst games of his career on Monday night and did not throw shade at head coach Nick Sirianni.

In his eyes, it’s all about Patullo and he wants him to be gone by next season.

McCoy added, “If Kevin’s still there, give the hitter my number. Kevin bee’s talking some bullshit…”

With four games remaining in the playoffs, the Eagles still find themselves in a playoff position as the leader of the NFC East. If the season ended today, they would be seeded 3rd in the NFC and face the San Francisco 49ers at home in South Philly.

But with such a tight playoff race (the Dallas Cowboys are still playing for the division title at 6-6-1) the Eagles could face desperation mode if they don’t figure out how to move forward on offense.

But it’s an easier schedule than most for the Eagles in their last four games; They will face the Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) at home in Week 15, then face the Washington Commanders (3-10), Buffalo Bills (9-4) and the Commanders for the final time in Week 18.
