Authorities are investigating a newly surfaced video that suggests a woman who struck and killed a man while driving in the Chicago suburb of Zion, Illinois, on Monday night was livestreaming on TikTok at the time of the crash.

Police said Monday’s crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Darren Lucas, 59, of nearby Beach Park, was unresponsive after being shot and later died in a hospital emergency room from blunt force injuries he suffered as a result of the accident, the local coroner’s office said in a statement.

Lucas’ son-in-law Chris King said Lake and the McHenry County Scanner said news of the video made his family “hold our loss tighter to our hearts.”

“We will continue to pray for what the driver is going through,” King reportedly said. “We’re trying to find ways to live without someone we care about so much.”
