Mr. Bennett, who addressed the court hearing, said that the lack of transparency in the case “only deepes our concern”.

He continued: “We cannot see how it was suddenly whipped into a courtroom without a warning with a lawyer who is just appointed by the state they have met.

“At least they saw each other, which should be a little relief.

“Craig is in the house of the house for 25 days without reaching funds.

“In Iran’s prison system, prisoners should rely on the money deposited in their accounts to buy food, clean water and hygiene products.

“Foreign, Community of Nations and Development Office (FCDO) has not been able to transfer money so far and left it without the foundations to survive.

“Lack of transparency deepens our concern.”

FCDO warns all British and British-Iran citizens not to travel to Iran because of “important arrest, inquiry or detention risk”.

FCDO was approached for a comment.
