British man arrested in Cyprus suspected of spying and terror offences

A British man was arrested in Cyprus on suspicion of espionage and terrorism crimes.

The BBC realizes that he has been supervising for Iran at the shelf acrotiri base on the island.

Local media says that it is of Azerbaijani origin and that Iran has connections with revolutionary guards.

He appeared in a regional court on Saturday and was detained for eight more days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this was in contact with Cyprus officials.

Although not in the Middle East, the shelf acrotiri is the most important of England in the region, and it was previously used to defend the Israeli sky from Iran’s attack.

Last week, it was announced that more planes will be sent there to protect the existing UK assets.

In a statement, the United Kingdom Foreign Ministry said: “We are in contact [with] Authorities in Cyprus on the arrest of a British man. ”

The statement was given to the BBC after a problem in the Cyprus media about the Anti -Terrorist arrest.

The police on the island said that a man was arrested on suspicion of terrorism and suspicion of espionage. They said they wouldn’t say more for national security.

Cyprus’s Ant1 news output is thought to be under the supervision of the Suspect of Raf Akotiri, and since the mid -April of Cyprus, Cyprus is thought to have its own Andreas Papandreou air base.
