A British pensioner has been found alive in a valley in Tenerife, 30 hours after he got lost on a solo walk.
Susan Hornby, 76, went for a ‘walk by herself’ while on holiday with her husband Peter.
However, family members were alarmed when he did not respond to messages and could not be located because the ‘Find My iPhone’ feature was not activated on his phone.
Miss Hornby, from Dorset, was found dehydrated in fear for her life today.
He was taken to the hospital where he received emergency medical attention. The sun is reporting.
Louise Bakewell, a family friend, posted a message online after becoming concerned that she had not been heard from since the early hours of the morning as she had gone for a walk that normally takes around three hours.
Mrs Bakewell wrote: ‘My brother-in-law’s mother, Susan Hornby, 76, went missing after a solo walk.

Family members were alarmed when he did not respond to messages, and his location could not be determined because the ‘Find My iPhone’ feature was not activated on his phone.
‘He was wearing a red jacket and a white hat.
‘We contacted the police but the language barrier is difficult.’
Ms Bakewell then shared the good news that Ms Hornby had been found.
He wrote on Facebook: ‘He was found in a valley and airlifted to hospital.
‘Thank you for your help and service. What a wonderful group of people; My faith in humanity has been well and truly restored.’
Explaining how the misfortune came about, Ms Bakewell added: ‘To explain, he went for a walk by himself and then he fell ill. The Find My iPhone feature was not enabled on his phone. Please tell your friends and relatives to always enable this if possible to stay safe.’
Ms Hornby is believed to have been walking near Benijo Beach in Tenerife’s Anaga Rural Park, famous for its stunning volcanic landscape, powerful waves and picturesque sunsets.

In September, another pensioner was lost on holiday for nearly 48 hours after getting lost during a night out on the Costa del Sol.
Clifford Wildgoose, 76, was last seen at Patrick’s 19th Hole Bar in Puerto Banus.
Fortunately, an American tourist recognized him and called his daughter, Melanie Hall.
Ms Hall said at the time: ‘To say I am delighted would be an understatement.
‘I phoned the police directly and they went to collect him and took him to hospital.’
He previously said he was ‘out of his mind with worry’ following Mr Wildgoose’s disappearance.
