British tourist killed in latest deadly avalanche named and pictured for first time | UK | News

The British man who tragically lost his life in an avalanche in the French Alps has been named and photographed. It was announced that 36-year-old Piotr Ortonowski died following the incident that occurred near the resort town of La Grave on February 17. The British-Polish dual national was skiing with a group of four other people when the avalanche hit.
A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed the Government was providing support to the family of a British man who died in France.
Rescuers found the bodies of two British citizens in a stream 400 meters below the Manchet valley.
Mr Leslie was a sales and marketing manager at construction company Barratt Redrow, while Mr Overy ran a plumbing business in Wimbledon, south-west London.
Mr Leslie is believed to be an experienced skier and fan of off-piste runs.

A total of 28 people lost their lives due to avalanches across France this winter.
An avalanche hit the Castle Peak area of Truckee around 11:30 local time on Tuesday. It ran over a group of backcountry skiers and six stranded people were rescued.
