Since their heartbreaking split with son Brooklyn last year, Sir David and Victoria Beckham want nothing more than to be in the same room as their eldest child.

And on Monday, Sir David’s dream almost came true as he and Brooklyn narrowly missed coming face to face twice amid a brawl at a five-star Beverly Hills hotel.

The Daily Mail can reveal the former England captain had two near-misses – on Monday morning and in the evening after checking in late on Sunday night after a ski trip in British Columbia with his middle son Romeo.

Sir David, 50, started arriving early at the shooting location, five miles away in Santa Monica, to record an advert for Lays crisps, sponsor of the upcoming World Cup.

And in a twist of fate, Brooklyn arrived a few hours later for breakfast, and after partying until the early hours at Sir Elton John’s Oscar party, onlookers described it as a ‘cold day’ by the pool.

The 27-year-old influencer was later seen sunbathing by the hotel’s luxury pool at 3pm; This was just three hours before Sir David, 50, arrived for dinner at the world-famous Polo Lounge restaurant at 6pm with two male friends, one of whom was David Gardner, who once had a very close relationship with Brooklyn.

Although there were three hours between when Brooklyn was last seen and when Sir David ate, hotel sources suggest it could have been even shorter.

Friends of the Beckhams say Sir David had ‘no idea’ Brooklyn was at the hotel on either occasion.

Sources say he spent the day there after having breakfast on Friday and following his appearance at godfather Sir Elton’s Oscar viewing party at West Hollywood Park on Monday.

Other guests say she dances until the early hours, meaning she misses seeing her father when he comes to check in.

One told the Daily Mail: ‘Far from being a top, David was completely in the dark about Brooklyn’s whereabouts and had no idea he had missed her not just once but twice.

‘Brooklyn was with Elton when David arrived to check in on Sunday night, she didn’t get there before David left on Monday morning and then left before returning.

‘There is absolutely no contact between Brooklyn and his family and there hasn’t been for some time, which is very sad but that’s how Brooklyn has chosen to live his life with Nicola.

‘Nor did Brooklyn know that his father was probably staying in a room a few feet away from where they were having breakfast.’

‘They haven’t seen each other, it would have been very strange if fate had intervened and they had come face to face. ‘Brooklyn made it clear he wanted nothing to do with David or Victoria, so he probably saved David a lot of grief.’

Brooklyn has been a regular at the Beverly Hills hotel in recent days, where he can sometimes be seen smiling in the sunshine without his wife, Nicola Peltz, 31, present.

It’s just a 10-minute drive from his and Nicola’s £13 million villa on the luxurious Trousdale estate, making it the ideal place for him to spend the day relaxing.

Sir David’s visit to the US was to promote Lays. On Monday morning, he was seen behind the wheel of a yellow truck, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt.

This is part of the mega deal it has signed with chip makers to coincide with the World Cup, which starts in June in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Sir David and his son have not spoken since last May, when Brooklyn and Nicola turned down his 50th birthday celebrations. The couple’s lawyers wrote a letter to the Beckhams’ legal team requesting that they speak only through them.

Marilyn Monroe called it home in the 1950s, Nicole Kidman was described as a regular, and Jay-Z and Beyonce were even rumored to have moved here while their nearby mansion was being renovated.
