Justin Baldoni breaks silence on Blake Lively legal battle in new video

Justin Baldoni is breaking his silence two years after the Blake Lively legal drama began.
On Wednesday night, Baldoni and his wife, Emily, sat down and shot a lengthy video for Instagram. The couple described the last two years as full of “injustice” and “trauma”.
“We haven’t spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we don’t have anything to say,” Justin began the video.

He added, “Because God knows, but every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to talk, something was telling us not to. It didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it, talking about it, feeling about it, and praying about it.”

Emily said: “This feels like the moment” and “There’s so much to say.”
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni stemmed from the production of the 2024 movie “It Ends With Us.” Rumors of tension surfaced during the film’s press tour when Baldoni promoted the film separately from Lively and the rest of the cast.
In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint and later filed a federal lawsuit alleging Baldoni sexually harassed her on set and mounted a campaign to damage his reputation after she voiced her concerns. Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a lawsuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, The New York Times and others, accusing them of defamation, extortion and trying to ruin his career.
The following year, both sides engaged in a highly public legal battle that included the release of text messages, behind-the-scenes footage, subpoenas, and numerous altered court files. Rather than proceeding to trial, Lively and Baldoni reached a confidential settlement in May 2026, without either party admitting guilt or compensating the other. The only issue remaining before the court is Lively’s claim for nearly $8 million in attorneys’ fees and litigation costs, which Baldoni disputes.

In the video uploaded on Wednesday, Justin shared that he wasn’t going to cover everything, and his wife agreed, adding that they had “great gratitude… for so many people and so many things that have happened to us.”
“Gratitude saved us,” Justin added.
Emily noted that despite both of their gratitude, it “doesn’t take away the injustice and pain we’ve felt over the last few years.”

“We’ve had to wrestle with a lot of things and try to understand a lot of things, like how could something like this happen? Let alone masquerading as a fight for women. There’s a lot to unpack,” she continued.

Emily said the couple had been through “so much trauma” and it was difficult for them to discuss it.
“We don’t even know if it’s the right thing to say. We just know we need to share things,” Justin said. “I will say that a lot of painful things have been expressed over the last few years. It created a lot of noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we wanted to let the justice system take its course.”

Emily added that “the facts and facts speak for themselves.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, updated fans on what their lives are like two years after the legal battle began.
“We’re getting better,” Justin said. “If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know recovery isn’t linear. Every day looks different. We’ve had to rethink for ourselves what’s real and what’s important. That’s the problem. This is our family, our friends, our community that is theirs to us, this is our faith.”

He said this led to him and Emily growing “closer to our faith, more faithful and committed than ever before.”
While Justin thanked viewers for their support, he said Emily prayed for “people to be understanding.”

“So many of you had discernment, you used your intuition and you trusted it. You took the time to fight for us. Thank you doesn’t feel like enough. But we are here in large part because of so many of you and all our friends and family,” Justin said.
Concluding the video, Justin talked about the biggest lesson they learned throughout this journey. “When God hits the reset button and everything else disappears, that’s when love appears,” he said.

Emily added, “And it did. There’s a lot to say. The time will come. But for now, we’ll focus on continuing to heal, hanging out with our kids, and enjoying life.”
Although the courtroom battle between Baldoni and Lively is largely settled, the dispute remains one of Hollywood’s most talked-about legal sagas due to its impact on the film, the celebrities involved, and broader debates about workplace conduct and reputation management.
