Protestors arrested after breaking into HMP Wormwood Scrubs | UK | News

Protesters have managed to break into a UK prison in support of a Palestine Action prisoner on hunger strike. Metropolitan Police officers rushed to HMP Wormwood Scrubs in West London after demonstrators managed to break into the prison grounds on Saturday evening.

The group protested in support of the prisoner on hunger strike and later refused to leave the area. Protesters then allegedly prevented prison staff from entering or leaving the prison and threatened officers who arrived at the scene.

A spokesman for the force added: “All those involved in this incident are currently in custody and will be held on suspicion of serious trespass.

“Once everyone involved in the incident is detained, we will update the number of arrests.”

The prison, nicknamed “The Scrubs”, is a Category B prison located in the White City area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Category B prisons are the level below maximum security category A prisons and must be secure, closed facilities.
