Brown University shooting: ‘Person of interest’ in custody | World | News

Rhode Island police said Sunday they have a person in custody in connection with a shooting on the Brown University campus that left two people dead and nine others injured.
Police spokeswoman Kristy dosReis confirmed the information.
Hundreds of police officers combed the Brown University campus and nearby neighborhoods, reviewing video to catch the gunman who opened fire on a classroom.
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon during final exams at the Ivy League school’s engineering building in Providence, Rhode Island.
Security camera footage released by the police shows the suspect, dressed in black, calmly walking away from the scene. His face is not visible, and investigators said it was unclear whether the suspect was a student.
Deputy Providence Police Chief Timothy O’Hara said the suspect was last seen leaving the engineering building and some witnesses told police the suspect, who may be in his 30s, may have been wearing a camouflage mask.
University President Christina Paxson said she was told that the 10 people who were shot were students. Another person was also injured in the armed attack, but it is not yet clear whether the victim is a student.
