Bruce Campbell announces ‘treatable’ but not ‘curable’ cancer diagnosis

“The Evil Dead” star Bruce Campbell announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer and will cancel upcoming matches.

Monday night Campbell to x Sharing that he has a type of cancer that is “treatable” but “incurable.” “I’m sorry if this was a shock, it was for me too,” he wrote.

“I’m sharing this because professionally a few things will need to change; looks, cons and the business in general needs to change [a] It’s in the backseat until treatment,” Campbell continued.

The horror star said he hopes to recover by the summer and be able to tour with his comedy “Ernie & Emma” this fall.

“There are a lot of cons I have to cancel this summer,” he continued. “For my part, I feel great regret. Treatment needs and professional obligations do not always go hand in hand.”

Campbell kept the rest of her message short and sweet, explaining that she was “not trying to get sympathy or advice.”

“I want to get this information out of the way in case misinformation gets out (which it will). Fear not, I’m the son of a tough father and have great support, so I expect to be around for a while. As always, you are the biggest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!” Campbell concluded.

The star is known for her role as Ash Williams in the 1981 classic “The Evil Dead.” Beyond horror, Campbell has appeared in many TV shows, including “Burn Notice,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
