Buckingham Palace makes huge Andrew blunder as royal fans left confused | Royal | News

Royal fans were left confused after noticing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was referred to as “Prince Andrew” on the Royal Family’s website. The error was noticed in the ‘Current State Counselors’ section of the website. State advisors are authorized to perform most of the monarch’s official duties; for example, attending Privy Council meetings, signing routine documents and obtaining the credentials of new ambassadors to the UK.

But ‘Prince Andrew’ is currently listed on the website under the ‘Current Government Counselors’ section. The list, in the order stated on the website, is as follows: “The current State Counselors are the Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Princess Crown, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice. In practice, only working Members of the Royal Family are called upon to act as State Counsellors.”

Fans expressed their surprise on social media. One fan wrote: “Palace’s website is updating at the pace of an arthritic snail,” while another said: “Give them a chance to sort things out.”

Another wrote: “Poor. Facts are so important right now.”

Royal correspondent Chris Ship wrote: “I’m sure there are many things the Palace needs updating, but on the pages of the Counselors of State (those who can replace the King in his absence), http://royal.uk, he is still listed as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor *Prince* Andrew.”

Andrew was arrested on Thursday last week on suspicion of abuse of public office and was released under investigation 11 hours later. Searches continue at his former home, Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Recently, calls for the King’s brother to be removed from the inheritance have been increasing. However, any such changes would require consultation and agreement with other parts of the Commonwealth.

Andrew had his royal titles stripped by the King last year as part of the fallout from his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
