Youth Missing After Boat Capsizes During Survey In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: A teenager went missing after a boat carrying three people capsized in the Mantei River near Baliapal Ghat in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday, officials said.

According to preliminary information, three people were conducting research for a proposed approach road project on the riverside when the incident occurred. It was reported that the boat lost its balance in the middle of the river and capsized, and all three were caught in the strong current.

Neighborhood residents who came to the scene immediately started a rescue effort. Two of the teenagers were safely pulled from the water.

However, the third young man was still missing and it was feared that he had been swept away by the current.

On being informed, Fire Brigade personnel and Ghanteswar Police Station police arrived at the scene and started a search and rescue operation. Divers and rescue teams were assigned to find the missing young man, and the work continued until the report was prepared.

While family members and villagers gathered on the river bank and waited for developments, district administration officials were closely monitoring the situation.
