Germany has the highest proportion of older workers in the EU

Official data published on Tuesday showed that Germany has the highest proportion of older workers of all European Union countries, with almost a quarter of those employed aged between 55 and 64. According to data based on European data by Destatis, in 2024, Italy became the country with the second highest proportion of workers in the 55-64 age group in the EU after Germany, with 23 percent.
